“Active English”

Children on a Bell young learner programme ‘learn by doing’. In addition to spending time developing English language skills in the classroom – working with their teacher, in pairs and small groups – students also develop their communication skills through a range of activities, study tours and events.

  • Develop their grammar and pronunciation skills and increase their vocabulary
  • Practise their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

Students develop their English language and communication skills by exploring at least five different sports or creative crafts each week. Students can choose from:

  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Swimming
  • Arts and crafts
  • Performing arts

Other activities are available and vary dependent on centre.

Each week, students go on 1 full day and 1 half day study tour to UK destinations such as London, Cambridge, Oxford and Brighton.

Students prepare for study tours in class prior to their trip and during the day complete language activities which integrate with their classwork. Activities include:

  • Conducting interviews
  • Developing a quiz about things they have seen or learnt about

Our programme of supervised events gives students the opportunity to relax, have fun and make friends with other young learners – all in English. Events include:

  • Sports – from football and basketball to tennis and cricket
  • Creative arts – from t-shirt painting to photography
  • Evening activities – such as discos, fashion shows and quiz nights.
