Focus Expert – Wellington College

Students will enhance their general English skills. Students will develop their knowledge and skills in their chosen activity

Students can choose one of the following expert activities:

  • Film expert /Students will learn how to create a story board, write a premise, develop a script, study set design, act or present, direct their peers and learn about editing as they make their own short film to share with family and friends.
  • Water sports expert/Students develop their language and skills through water sports such as canoeing, sailing and raft building.
  • Horse-riding expert/Students develop their riding skills including walking, halting, trotting, jumping and trekking and learn about stable management and tacking up.
  • Outdoor survival expert/Students learn skills to aid survival in the outdoors, such as shelter building, fire making, tracking skills and natural navigation methods as well as how to find and cook food in the wild.
  • Fashion expert/Students will learn the language and skills of the fashion industry.  From assessing fabric and analysing styles to designing, cutting, sewing and styling, learners will create their own collection of garments, accessories and jewellery for the end of course catwalk show.
  • Study tours

Each week, students go on 1  full day and 1 half day study tour to UK destinations such as London, Stratford-upon-Avon, Brighton and Bath.

Students prepare for study tours in class prior to their trip and during the day complete language activities which integrate with their classwork. Activities include:

  • Conducting interviews
  • Developing a quiz about things they have seen or learnt about

Events

Our programme of supervised events gives students the opportunity to relax, have fun and make friends with other young learners – all in English. Events include:

  • Sports – from football and basketball to tennis and cricket
  • Creative arts – from t-shirt painting to photography
  • Evening activities – such as discos, fashion shows and quiz nights.
  • Choose a Bell young learner English course and from the moment we collect your child from the airport to the time they depart you will be confident in the knowledge that your child will be safe and supervised throughout their stay with us. They will receive:
    • 25 hours of tuition per week of lessons / programmed activities
    • Comprehensive supervision by qualified and experienced staff
    • Residential accommodation and all meals
    • Use of sports facilities
    • Study tours and a full programme of social events
    • Learning materials, course portfolio and end of course certificate
    • Return transfers on scheduled arrival and departure days from and to designated airports
    • Free laundry service
