English Lessons in Eastbourne Centre

Every student is tested (both written and oral) on arrival to ensure they are placed in a class appropriate to their level. To gain maximum benefit from this course, students must have reached at least intermediate level in English.

Tuition takes place for 20 hours per week in classes of maximum 14 students. This enables students to receive intensive and personal attention. On one afternoon per week, lessons sometimes take place off campus at a local place of interest, to enhance learning in the classroom. These lessons will usually be devoted to literature, politics, culture or debate.

Lessons take place in the various seminar rooms within the Centre, which are ideal for teaching and presentation purposes. They are light and airy – some having wonderful views over the English Channel.

All students’ work is carefully monitored by teachers throughout the course and progress checks take place at the end of each week. All students receive a certificate and a report from their English teacher at the end of their stay.

The sports and leisure facilities are available a short distance from the Eastbourne Centre. There is an excellent indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, cookery room, art room and sports fields.

A sports and social programme, organised by the Social Organiser, is on offer during afternoons and evenings for students. The sports and activities are various and can include the following: Swimming, Soccer, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Trampolining, Ultimate Frisbee, Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Cookery, Jewellery Making, Arts and Crafts. Evening activities could include: Quiz, Drama Nights, Talent Shows, Nightclub in Brighton, Skating, Karaoke, Beach barbecues, fun games.
