Day and Boarding profile

At Bishop’s Stortford College, there is a natural blend of day pupils, full boarders, weekly boarders and flexi-boarders (those who board a few nights a week). We aim to be as flexible as possible within our available capacity. Our starting point is what would work best for you, your child and your family.

Approximately 220 board: around 50 in the Prep School (most boarding from the age of 9 years) and 170 in the Senior School, including a number of international pupils. 

 

Where our pupils live

Day pupils come from a relatively wide area, stretching towards Stevenage to the west and the coast to the east, Cambridge to the north and Epping to the south.

The majority of our UK boarders come from Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and London.

 

We typically have between 50-60 international boarders with us each year. The majority of these are in the Senior School. We have a number who join our Prep School, usually from the age of 10 or 11. In the past few years, students have joined us from many different countries, including China (mainland and Hong Kong), Estonia, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and UAE.

 

Bishop’s Stortford College has welcomed students from around the world for many years. Our aim is to ensure that all our international students are well integrated and have a real sense of belonging.

We have around 50 international students with us each year from a wide range of countries. The majority of these are in the Senior School which caters for 13-18 year olds. They represent between 10-12% of all Senior School pupils. We also have a number who join our Prep School, usually from the age of 10 or 11.
