Sevenoaks School – at the top of its GCSE performance tables 2012

Sevenoaks School (HMC) is a coeducational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11‑18. Founded in 1432, Sevenoaks provides academic excellence with a strong pastoral and co-curricular emphasis and a global dimension inspired by the International Baccalaureate. Half an hour from Central London and from Gatwick Airport, it is situated on an attractive 100-acre campus adjoining Knole Park.

Sevenoaks is a co-educational school, offering both day and boarding. The main points of entry for students are:

  1. Age 11 (Year 7 or First Year)
  2. Age 13 (Year 9 or Third Year)
  3.  Age 16 (Year 12 or Sixth Form)

In the Sixth Form, all pupils study the International Baccalaureate diploma, an examination we have offered here since 1977

Sevenoaks School was described as ‘outstanding’ in the Ofsted Boarding inspection 2009.

School offer modern and family-friendly boarding for around 350 boys and girls. Our boarding community is the size of many whole boarding schools. Pupils live, work and rest in seven well-appointed and imaginatively looked after houses.

Boarding at Sevenoaks is fun, comfortable and busy. A full programme of sporting, cultural and social activities runs every weekend.

Housemasters and Housemistresses share with their team of assistants, resident and non-resident tutors and House matrons the duties and responsibilities of caring for children who may well be away from home for the first time. Boarding can provide an excellent transition from home to independence and maturity; the Sixth Form boarding houses, in particular, enable boys and girls to enjoy the benefits of boarding at an important stage in their careers, and to prepare for life at university.
