Brooke House College Sixth Form College

Brooke House is an independent, co-educational boarding college. Academic demands are high and the work exacting but the atmosphere is pleasant and informal, preparing students for both the responsibilities and freedoms of university and adult life.
Situated in the small, historic and typically English town of Market Harborough, Brooke House College specialises in preparing students from all over the world for entry to university in UK. A staff to student ratio of 5:1 fosters close academic and pastoral supervision and its small size – 220 students – promotes a real family atmosphere. Students leave Brooke House for some of Britain’s best universities, equipped with the skills and maturity which will serve them through until completion of their degree studies.
Brooke House is a large, elegant Georgian mansion standing in grounds of almost two acres. The facilities, apart from tutorial rooms, include the students’ private study rooms, reference libraries, common rooms, laboratories, art complex, launderette and recreation building which caters for table tennis, pool, television, gym and tuck shop. Wireless internet facilities are provided throughout the College.
The College is an hour by train from London, and very close to the M1 and M6 motorways.
A-level and GCSE
Tuition is in small groups with an average of eight students in a class. A wide range of A-levels is offered as part of both two-year and five-term courses. One year and two year GCSE courses are provided in up to eight subjects. Private study takes place under supervision to enable students to gain maximum benefit from their courses. Progress is also monitored regularly by interviews with senior staff and personal tutors.
University Foundation Programme
The college offers a one-year University Foundation Course in five disciplines: Business, Law, Engineering, Art and Architecture.
Football Academy
The Brooke House College Football Academy, which opened in 2008, caters for 45 excellent footballers from around the world. Football Academy students train every morning and fulfil and academic timetable in the afternoons. Students take part in competitive fixtures every week and the best are sent to train with professional English clubs.
English Language Learning
EFL provision is included in the fees for the fees for those students for whom English is not the first language. Students may study EFL alongside all academic programmes or they may join our English Language Reception Course prior to starting their academic programme. English Language students are assisted by specialist teaching staff and a state of the art language learning facilities.
Enrichment Activities
The College caters for a wide range of recreational interests through enrichment activities and clubs. A variety of sports is offered: swimming, gym, horse riding, badminton, netball, volleyball, rugby and there is a college football team and basketball team. Students may opt to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.
Academic Success
Every year over 95% of Brooke House students proceed to Higher Education in the UK and in 2008 10% of A-level students gained places at Oxbridge. Residential English Language Summer School
In July and August Brooke House College offers an English Language Summer School for students from all over the world. The following courses are available for students aged 12 – 17.
-          English Plus Activities (15 hours of English)
-          English Plus (27 hours of English including British Culture Classes)
-          IELTS Preparation (27 hours of English including IELTS and British Culture)
-          English Plus Football (15 hours of English, 7.5 hours of football coaching)
-          English Plus Riding (15 hours of English, 10 hours of horse riding)

The Summer School caters for 140 students each week and they come from more than 20 different countries. The programme aims to provide a balanced mix of English Language learning, sporting and creative activities and excursions to places of cultural and historic importance.
