Brooke House ‘A’ Level programmes are designed for extremely able and ambitious students who are intending to enter the U.K.’s best universities to undertake the most demanding and competitive of courses (e.g. Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Veterinary Sciences). They are normally sat over the course of 6 terms (2 years) or, in certain circumstances 5 terms (18 months).

Subjects available:

Students normally study three subjects, and receive 6 hours of tuition per subject per week. Students are encouraged to group their subject choices sensibly. The Director of Studies interviews students, offering guidance on subject choices, taking into account students’ intended degree programmes and careers, prior to the commencement of studies.

University Foundation Programmes (U.F.P.) at Brooke House CollegeU.F.P.s are designed for more mature students and students from overseas who wish to gain a one-year fast-track entry to a British university where their existing qualifications do not satisfy the conditions for direct entry to degree courses. They serve as a thorough preparatory year for such international students who wish to become proficient in English and acquire the academic skills and knowledge necessary to follow a degree level programme. They are normally taken by students who have already satisfactorily completed their secondary education in their own countries. The University Foundation Programme was established in collaboration with De Montfort University, and many Brooke House  students progress on to a place at  De Montfort on successful completion of the course. However, students are free to apply to any other U.K. university for admission to undergraduate studies. A combination of a skills-based core curriculum and subject specific options allows students’ timetables to be tailored towards their future university intentions, with business, accounting, engineering, architecture and law being popular choices.

GCSE Courses at Brooke House CollegeGCSE, which was formerly known as ‘O’ Level, stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. It is the main examination taken by British students to complete the primary stage of secondary/ high school education, usually at the age of 16. Students normally study a broad range of between 5 and 8 subjects. At Brooke House students receive three hours pr week tuition in each subject. The GCSE course lasts either 1 or 2 years depending on a student’s age, academic ability and the level they reached in their previous school’s education system.
