Summer School Senior 13 – 17 yrs

  • 25 hours of tuition a week
  • Specialist teachers
  • Maximum 10 students per class
  • Students are placed in classes according to their age and ability
  • Levels range from beginners (A1 Common European Framework) to advanced (C1 Common European Framework).
  • Full academic report and certificate of attendance at the end of the courseEnglish – 15 hours per week:
    • Accurate use of spoken and written English
    • Reading and writing skills
    • Development of vocabulary
    • Listening and pronunciation
    • Confidence building and fluency
    • Academic focus
    • City and Guilds International English Qualification which follows the Common European Framework

    Other academic subjects – 10 hours per week:

    All students study other academic subjects, and have the opportunity to study up to six other subjects during a three week course.  Classes may involve class work, project work and visits to local places of interest.  The following courses are normally offered, subject to demand:

    The senior summer school is suitable for students who are preparing for GCSEs, A levels and IB Diploma, entering a UK boarding school or who are looking for an interesting and rewarding holiday.

  • At Taunton School International we place a great deal of emphasis on providing excellent pastoral care, with our supportive and caring staff available 24 hours a day.  We want to help students to adjust to boarding school life in a small, safe and friendly environment.Students live in comfortable boarding houses on campus and are cared for by friendly and dedicated staff.Bedrooms are usually allocated on an age basis with the older students having their own single study bedroom and the younger students sharing in mixed nationality bedrooms. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped.

    The school provides three hot meals a day for students in Taunton School’s dining room. The food is offered as a buffet selection and includes fresh vegetables, fruit and desserts. There is plenty of choice so all diets are catered for.

    There is a Health Centre on Taunton School’s campus which provides 24 hour medical care. All Taunton School International students are able to see a doctor or a nurse if they are feeling unwell.  Students are given email and internet access and emergency contact details are issued to both students and parents.

  •  Every day students have the opportunity to enjoy Taunton School’s superb sports facilities which include two indoor heated swimming pools, a fitness gym, three sports halls, extensive playing fields and numerous tennis courts. A full programme of activities and excursions is organised by experienced, well-qualified staff and students are supervised at all times.
  • Each day there is a wide range of organised and supervised sports on offer for everyone, for example:

    After an activity there is usually free time so that students can relax with their friends. Students will go on an excursion on a Saturday and sometimes as part of their lessons.

    • Longleat – a safari at an English stately home
    • Cardiff – vibrant Welsh capital

    • Bath – Roman spa town

    Travel, food and group activities are included in the course fees. Drinks and souvenirs are extra.
