Prep School – Building on the Foundations
Bishop’s Stortford College Prep School offers an outstanding all-round education for 7 to 13 year olds, with a blend of day pupils, full boarders, weekly boarders and pupils who board a few nights a week (flexi-boarders).
At Bishop’s Stortford College, small classes and our focus on the individual mean that every pupil receives the time and attention to develop the confidence and desire to learn. Every pupil is encouraged, taught and challenged to achieve his or her best across a broad curriculum. Imaginative and skilled teaching fosters a love of learning and underpins our excellent academic record.
They have their own distinctive learning environments, but, as part of the wider school community sharing the same campus and ethos, they offer a greater range of facilities, teaching resources and opportunities than is typical of most schools for these age groups. Pupils are well prepared for entry into our Senior School at 13+, ensuring a smooth transition.
Boarding House – Grimwade
The friendly, well-ordered, family atmosphere of Grimwade House, the Prep School Boarding House, means that it does not take long for new boarders to settle in and feel that they belong. With a good mix of full, weekly and flexi boarders, all new pupils are paired up with fellow pupils who help to look after them when they first come into the House.
It has five rooms in which the pupils can relax whilst downstairs (including computer, television, snooker, table tennis and music); additionally, the outdoor and indoor sporting facilities are regularly put to good use. The fantastic swimming pool and sports hall are used regularly and boarders make good use of the beautiful outdoor space when the weather permits.
