International Study Preparation

Students learn English for Cambridge ESOL examinations and use English for critical thinking, taking part in debates and discussions. Students improve their teamworking skills and take responsibility for planning their own excursions leading to increased confidence and independence.

On this intensive course, students will study English, working towards a Cambridge ESOL examination, and learning skills for critical thinking, self-expression and working with others in a team.

Lessons take place from 09.00 – 16.30 Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. Students learn to:

  • formulate and express their own ideas
  • take part in discussions and debates
  • understand different viewpoints
  • take ownership of their study
  • prepare for one of the Cambridge ESOL exams – Preliminary English Test (PET), First Certificate in English (FCE) or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).

In the evenings, there are supervised homework sessions from Monday to Friday.

After homework, students take part in a range of activities to further develop their study skills, self-expression and team-work including:

  • Book and film clubs
  • Sports and social activities
  • Planning and preparing their weekend excursions around the UK.

Students plan their own visits to famous destinations in the UK, such as London, Oxford and Bath. The supervised excursions are a great way to explore British life and history and spend time with new friends.
