English and Activity

General English classes are designed to build confidence through clear and intensive classroom teaching in small groups of 12 to 15 students.

Students are streamed by age and ability at the beginning of the course and placed in a class of the appropriate level. During the course, teachers monitor students’ progress and an academic report and certificate are awarded on departure. Our teachers design their courses to suit the needs of their students, using a range of course books and resources. They aim to improve grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and comprehension skills, as well as building confidence in communicating through English.

Language Activities

In addition to general English classes, all students on English and Activity courses experience a wide range of activities designed to give them the opportunity to develop new skills whilst using their spoken English in a specific context. Each day students move on to a new activity:  IT, drama, music, film-making and art.

Classes last for 90 minutes and are taught by subject specialities. The focus is on the development of speaking and listening skills.

• Three hours of General English classes per day
• 90 minutes per day of Language Activities: computing, music, art, drama and film-making
• 90 minutes of sports options per day
• Varied social programme: disco, quiz, talent show
• Two full day excursions per week to London and beyond
